The Preparatory Course for Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Outline and characteristics

Japanese Language Proficiency Test was changed in 2010year. We have three course for N1, N2, N3, with the aim to pass the test, each courses stresses vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and listening skills.

Terms	For July test Course : March 31 ( Sat. ) to June 30 ( Sat. ) 2012. For December test Course : August 25 ( Sat. ) to December 1 ( Sat. ) 2012.
The number of times of lectures	For July test Course : 13 times For December test Course : 13 times
Class hours ( days of the week, hours )	Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Guidelines for applicants

Regular number of students	Please note that when the number of students does not reach 4 or 5, the course may not be opened.
Application requirements and object persons	Course levels: N1, N2 and N3 *N3 level will only be offered for December. The object persons of this course are people over the age of 18.
The term of application, the period for submission of documents. Process to entrance into school and opening of the course

After taking the placement test, new students are allowed to observe the first lesson of the term ( only one time for the entire course ). Observers are supposed to make a reservation without fail before that lesson.

The schedule of the placement test	For July test Course : 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. March 24 ( Sat. ) 2012. For December test Course : 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. August 18 ( Sat. ) 2012.

Study expenses, etc.

Entrance fee, Tuition fee.	Entrance fee : 5,500yen Tuition fee : For July test Course 41,000yen For December test Course 41,000yen * Only new students are supposed to deliver the enrollment ( entrance ) fee. Another entrance fee is required over a year after the course completion.
How to deliver fees	To be paid at the reception desk of our school or by bank transfer, etc.
Expenses for textbooks and course materials	Besides textbook expenses, actual expenditure 2,000-3,000yen is required.
Others	* The discount of 2,000yen is applied to those taking this course with the Evening Japanese Course or the Morning Japanese Course. * Once the tuition and other fees are delivered, they cannot be refunded except when the course cannot be opened. * But in case you inform us your cancelation by the day before class start, we will refund tuition fee. * The expenses include consumption taxes.

The Intensive Summer Japanese-Language Course for Teen Agers

This is the course for a small group of students which offers intensive learning of Japanese conversation.

Application requirements and object persons	* Non-native men and women of Japanese aged approximately 14-17. * From youths without Japanese language learning experience to those without confidence in Japanese conversation. ( irrespective of whether or not the applicant is attending junior or senior high schools of Japan )

Homestay Program

(1)Application requirement 1.Understand and be able to agree with the purpose of the homestay program. 2.Must be enrolled in the Osaka YWCA Japanese Language Course. 3.Must have accident insurance. (2)Submission Deadline By June 29 (3)Duration of homestay Up to 3 months (4)Cost ・Homestay application fee： 12,000yen ・Homestay fee： per week 15,000yen, per day 2,200yen Including breakfast and dinner. The applicants is responsible for transportation fees to and from school, lunch, telephone, medical and personal expenses by the applicant him/herself. (5)Others There is a limit of number. Once the number of people is fulled, we may close the application.

Other pieces of information

* Those participants from the first day who have attended more than two thirds of the course will be given a course completion certificate. * With a high level Japanese language aptitude, students can join the course for those over the age of 18 which is given simultaneously. The Japanese-Language Evening Course

Outline and characteristics

Beginner Level : You will be able to practice a simple conversation, speaking about yourself , your country, etc. You will be able to use simple polite expressions needed in a more complex situation. Middle Level: You will practice stating your own opinions, learning grammer by talking with simple polite expressions or treating daily topics. Advanced Level: You will build up your vocabulary through reading of newspapers, magazines, etc. Learning of social deixis ( necessary for members of Japanese society ) and effective expressions in business scenes is also intended. * The course materials are originally developed by the Osaka YWCA.

The course provides the practical Japanese for dailylife in Japan. The course focuses on conversation, listening and speaking, and provides related grammatical points. People with student visa are subjected. This course targets people with resident status such as people married to a Japanese and carry a short-stay visa.

The course provides the practical Japanese for dailylife in Japan. The course in higher level aims at learning of polite expressions, social deixis, effective expressions in business scenes. This course fits for those who actually work in Japan to improve their Japanese.

The Preparatory Course for Japanese Language Proficiency Test	Look here for detailed explanation.
This is the preparatory course for Japanese Language Proficiency Test which is held in July and December. There are classes for the N1 and N2 and N3. All classes focus on practical learning of words, usages, reading comprehension and listening comprehension.

This is a short-term Japanese concentration course for three weeks in the summer vacation. More practical Japanese can be acquired in the optional program etc. A homestay opportunities are also available.

Process from application for admission to enrollment and opening of courses

＜Application documents＞１．Required forms on applicant him/herself 1. Admission application 2. The reason for studying Japanese 3. Submit applicant's diploma of the last attended school or a Graduation Certificate. 4. Transcript Certificate of the last attended school. 5. Japanese Language Studies Certificate or Japanese Proficiency Test results 6. Photo (3 cm x 4 cm) 5 pieces 7. Copy of Passport 8. Occupation certificate * A person of an application from China has the documents which it is necessary in addition to the above. Please refer in detail. ２．Required forms on Remitter him/herself A. For remitters living overseas 1. Pledge 2. Certificate of Balance 3. Certificate of Income 4. Occupation certificate 5. Documents verifying relationship between applicant and remitter: Family Registration or Birth Certificate etc. B. For remitters’ living in Japan (Remitter living in Kansai area is desirable.) 1. Pledge 2. Certificate of Balance 3. Tax certificate: Document to confirm yearly income. 4. Occupation certificate 5. Documents verifying relationship between applicant and remitter:If relative, submit a document verifying your relationship. 6. Copy of Resident’s Card or Alien Registration Certificate (Note 1) For those applying from The People's Republic of China, please ask for a different “Required Application related Forms List”. (Note 2) Applicants from Mongolia, Myanmar and Bangladesh, or those who have applied for eligibility or change of status before need another papers besides that written above. Contact us. (Note 3) Should you have difficulty obtaining any of the above stated forms, please contact us. A person of an application from China has the documents which it is necessary in addition to the above. Please refer in detail. ＜Steps from application to entrance into school＞１．Application* 　・The applicant's proxy ( financial supporter or presenter ) will come to our school within the application period, with all necessary documents prepared. We do not accept any application by mail. 　In case where application forms are submitted through a foreign students center or a Japanese-language school, the deadline for application, the term limitation for tuition fee payment, etc. will be different from where application is made on an individual basis. Please consult each affiliated institution. ２．Examination 　・The first examination・・・a documentary examinaiton. 　・The second examination・・・An interview with the financial supporter, or the presenter, who resides in Japan. 　　Successful applicants must pay the examination fee ( and also the entrance fee and the tuition fee for 6 months, in case where expenses are covered by money sent from their home country ). 　　Applicants from China will be given an interview and a written test, in addition to a documentary examination. 　An examination of a one-year course is a plan of the end of October. 　An examination of one-year and six month course is a plan of the end of April. 　A plan of a place is Beijing / Shanghai / Dailian / Shenyang. ３．Application to the Immigration Bureau of Japan* 　・We apply for authorization of resident eligibility in the place of successful applicants. ４．Delivery of Certificate of eligibility 　・In case that applicants pass screening by the Immigration Bureau, "Certificate of eligibility" will be delivered to us ( usually about a month before the start of courses ). 　　Their financial supporter or presenter will be contacted and requested to come to school in order to deliver entrance fees, and to receive "Certificate of eligibility" and "Letter of Admission" from us. ５．The acquisition of a studying abroad visa 　・With "Letter of Admission" from us, "Certificate of eligibility" and a passport, successful applicants will apply for a visa at Japanese diplomatic offices in their home country ( Japanese Embassy or Consulate ). ６．Entrance into school 　・Successful applicants should deliver the tuition fee before entering into school. Outline and characteristics

The Japanese language department offers teaching of Japanese language and other necessary subjects ( mathematics, physics, chemistry, English, social studies ) in the interest of foreign students preparing to take entrance examinations by Japanese universities, graduate schools, two-year colleges, vocational technical schools, etc.

Student life in YWCA

Privileges exclusively reserved for those with a student visa ( resident status )

Grant ・・・ There are 5 scholarship programs offered by Japan's government, Osaka City, and other bodies.
Commuter tickets are available in student fares.
International Students House ・・・ Applicant can be made for residence in public halls for foreign students.

There are exchange programs.

F・F・P(Foreign Friendship Program)・・・There are exchange programs between foreign students and Japanese candidates for Japanese-language teacher.

Terms

One-year course : April 2012. to March 2013.
One and a half-year course : October 2011. to March 2013.

*　Graduated students of the one-year course are entitled to go on to the Second Japanese Language Course ( one-year course ) and to continue with study to the maximum of two years.

The regular number of class

One-year course : 30 persons.
One and a half-year course : 27 persons.
The second Japanese language department : 20 persons.

Application procedures

The applicant or the proxy is requested to come to school with all necessary documents prepared.
In case of applying directly from abroad, send the documents by EMS.

Entrance fee : To be paid when Certificate of eligibility is delivered.
Tuition fee : To be paid at the moment of entrance into school.

Place	Lessons are given at the place of your own appointing or at Osaka YWCA College.

Entrance fee, Tuition fee.	Entrance fee : 10,500円 Tuition fee ( per hour ) : 5,500yen for 1 person, 7,600yen for 2 persons, 9,900yen for 3 persons.
How to deliver fees	To be paid at the reception desk of our school or by bank transfer, etc.
The term of delivery	Pay the application fee, and the tuition fee for one month, before the first lesson.
Expenses for course matarials・The teaching materials costs	The teaching materials costs : The actual expenses
Traveling expense of instructors	500yen + the actual transportation fee per lesson
Other	* Night time fee (after 18:00) : 500yen per lesson * Once delivered, the tuition fee cannot be refunded. * The expenses include consumption taxes.

About cancelling * Cancellation of a lesson is only possible by the noon of the day before the lesson ( or by the time 2 days before the lesson, if the day before the lesson falls upon Sunday or a holiday ). 　　When there is not cancellation after it or a report, I consider that a class was done. * If a lesson is to be cancelled because of some reasons of the instructor or Osaka YWCA, the student will be contacted and be given an extra lesson.

Outline and characteristics

"Want to study at a Japanese junior or senior high school! But still short of the language aptitude..." For such foreign students we open the Japanese Language Course for Teen Agers. The class is consists of a small groupe of students. Experienced teachers carefully offer a basis Japanese course needed to study at Japanese schools.

Application requirements and object persons	Non-native men and women of Japanese approximately aged 12 to 18. Youths of different sexes with little confidence in the ability of communicating in Japanese. Those who cannot read or write hiragana and katakana. ( irrespective of whether or not the applicant is attending junior or senior high schools of Japan )
